Markus Jeschek

Markus Jeschek is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor at the Laboratory of Synthetic and Applied Microbiology (LSAM1) within the School of Basic Sciences at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). He holds the Lonza Chair in Sustainable Biosynthesis and is affiliated with the Swiss Coordination Group for Chemical Education (SCGC-ENS).

Research Focus: His work bridges synthetic microbiology and chemical biology, aiming to develop sustainable biosynthetic strategies through enzyme engineering and metabolic pathway optimization. This aligns with broader goals in green chemistry and industrial biotechnology.

Teaching & Mentorship: As part of SCGC, he contributes to chemical education initiatives. He supervises PhD students Charlotte Desczyk, Ricardo Javier Farrera, Clemens Felix Hausmann, and Nicolas Alexander Jaenisch in the ISIC department.
