Markus Heydenreich is a Professor at the University of Augsburg, holding the Chair of Stochastics and Its Applications. His research focuses on probability theory, particularly discrete random objects such as phase transitions in statistical mechanics, mean-field behavior, lace expansion, spatial random graph models, and random walks in dynamic environments. He has contributed to projects including Scale-free percolation on finite domains (DFG 2018–2021) and Critical behavior of the weight-dependent random connection model (DFG SPP 2020–2023).
Heydenreich has co-organized numerous workshops and conferences, including the MATRIX-MFO Tandem Workshop: Stochastic Reinforcement Processes and Graphs (2023), Summer School Discrete Random Systems (2022), and workshops on graph limits, random walks, and mathematical crystallization. He serves on the editorial board of Mathematical Physics, Analysis and Geometry and is the scientific coordinator for the Erasmus exchange program with ENS Lyon.
