Markus Döpfert

Markus Döpfert serves as a Research Associate at the Chair of Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems, Technical University of Munich (TUM), a role he has held since 2021 after working as a Renewable Energy Consultant at con|energy consult in Berlin (2019-2020).

His academic qualifications include:

• M.Sc. in Energy Engineering and Management from Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon (2016-2018), with a master's thesis on Portugal's transition to 100% renewable energy by 2050
• B.Eng. in Renewable Energies and Energy Management from TH Aschaffenburg (2012-2016), with a bachelor's thesis on magnetic nanowire production for energy harvesters

His research specializes in agent-based modeling and optimization of energy systems at distribution grid levels, examining technical-economic interactions and generating high-resolution synthetic time series. This work directly supports renewable energy integration and sustainable system design, particularly through microgrid and sector-coupling applications. Current projects focus on regulatory frameworks for decentralized energy supply, advancing practical implementations of sustainable energy solutions in real-world contexts.

He actively contributes to the STROM research network (Subproject 3: Decentralized Energy Supply and Regulatory Environment) under the leadership of Prof. Thomas Hamacher, addressing critical challenges in energy system decentralization. His collaborative work within TUM's research ecosystem drives innovation in renewable energy modeling and policy development.
