معرفی
Markus Dieser is an Assistant Research Professor in Chemical & Biological Engineering at Montana State University. He manages the Microbial Ecology and Biogeochemistry Lab and assists with imaging projects at the CBE Bioimaging Core Lab. His research focuses on microbial processes in icy ecosystems and their implications for exoplanet habitability and industrial applications.
Education:
- PhD, Ecology and Environmental Sciences, Montana State University (2009)
- Masters in Civil Engineering, University of Innsbruck, Austria
- Postdoctoral Researcher, Center for Biofilm Engineering (2013–2018)
- Postdoctoral Researcher, Louisiana State University (2009–2013)
Research Interests: Combines laboratory and field studies to investigate microbial adaptations in terrestrial icy environments (e.g., glaciers, ice sheets) and explores their relevance to extraterrestrial habitability. Additionally, investigates biofilm roles in cold environments and prospects cold-dwelling microbes for industrial uses, including ice nucleation applications.
Collaborations: Works with NASA to address challenges for potential human exploration of Mars, as highlighted in the 2021 MSU News article. Leads lab infrastructure supporting biofilm analysis and biogeochemical studies.
