Markus Bresinsky

Professor Markus Bresinsky serves as a Professor at the Department of International Politics and Social Sciences within the Faculty of Applied Natural and Cultural Sciences at Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule (OTH) Regensburg. He holds multiple significant positions including International Representative, Academic Advisor for the BA International Relations and Management program, Spokesperson of the BA IR Study Program Commission, and Member of the Faculty Council. Additionally, he serves as a Senate member and reporter of the university management in appointment procedures.

Professor Bresinsky holds a Doctor of Philosophy and a Master's degree in Politics and Economics. His academic credentials support his expertise in international relations and security studies. He has developed innovative approaches to understanding crisis situations and has pioneered simulation methodologies in international crisis management education.

His research focuses on international relations, crisis management, security policy, and hybrid warfare. Bresinsky examines the intersection of technology, security, and political decision-making, with particular attention to the challenges posed by hybrid threats and the complexities of multinational cooperation in crisis scenarios. His work demonstrates a movement from traditional security studies toward more technologically integrated approaches to understanding global security challenges, incorporating machine learning techniques and virtual collaboration frameworks.

As an academic leader, Bresinsky has supervised numerous bachelor's theses through the 'Knowledge.Creates.Teaching' podcast series, where he discusses student research on topics ranging from humanitarian-development-peace nexus to intelligence analysis, crisis management, and political analysis. His supervision reflects a commitment to practical, real-world applications of international relations theory.

Professor Bresinsky leads the Systems Analysis and Training Laboratory, which focuses on Intelligence and Analysis, Human Factors, Multinational Virtual Collaboration, International Crisis Management Teams, and Cross-Departmental Cooperation. He is the founder of the GLOBE exercise series, which provides students with practical experience in managing multinational crisis management operations through simulation scenarios representing UN-led missions.
