معرفی
Markus Arndt is a Professor of Quantum Nanophysics at the University of Vienna, affiliated with the Vienna Center for Quantum Science & Technology (VCQ) and the Erwin Schrödinger Center for Quantum Science & Technology (ESQ). His research group explores foundational aspects of quantum mechanics and applications of matter-wave interference with mesoscopic objects like biomolecules, nanoparticles, and clusters. Key projects include developing high-mass matter-wave interferometers, investigating decoherence mechanisms, and advancing quantum-assisted sensing technologies.
Research interests span quantum-classical interface studies, thermal and collisional decoherence, and quantum behavior of large biomolecules. His lab has pioneered techniques such as Talbot-Lau interferometry for macromolecules and demonstrated quantum superposition in molecules exceeding 25 kDa. Collaborations include the Vienna Doctoral School of Physics and projects funded by the Gordon & Betty Moore Foundation and the Office of Naval Research (ONR).
Recent work includes studies on photocleavable porphyrin derivatives (2025) and oxytocin derivatives (2025), advancing quantum optomechanics and molecular quantum sensing. His group’s experiments often involve cutting-edge tools like single-molecule fluorescence microscopy and vacuum ultraviolet ionization, with applications in materials science and biophysics.
