Prof Markos Trichas is a Visiting Professor at the University of Plymouth's School of Society and Culture, affiliated with the Centre for Seapower and Strategy. He specializes in threats to critical space infrastructure and space C5ISR systems. Currently, he serves as Director of National Security and Defence Space at BAE Systems. Previously, he held roles including Head of UK Future Military Space Programs at Airbus Defence and Space, and research positions at the Harvard-Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics and the STFC's Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.
Prof Trichas holds a PhD in Astrophysics from Imperial College London and a Master's in Astrophysics from the University of London. His research focuses on space security, defense technologies, and astrophysical applications. With over 100 peer-reviewed publications and 11,700 citations, his work bridges academic and industry contributions to national security and space systems.
His professional journey spans academia, government research, and private-sector defense innovation, reflecting a multidisciplinary approach to addressing modern security challenges.
