Mark Sawamura

Mark Sawamura is an Associate Professor with Tenure at the Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO) at Marshall B. Ketchum University. He serves as Chief of the Jarnagin Center for Primary Eye Care and Chief of Ocular Disease at the University Eye Center at Ketchum Health (UECKH). Additionally, he is an attending faculty in the Special Testing Service.

Dr. Sawamura specializes in neuro-ophthalmic disease, ocular disease management, and advanced ophthalmic procedures, including laser applications. His expertise extends to optometric informatics, therapeutic education, and clinical training. He has delivered national-level lectures and contributed to therapeutics courses across California, Hawaii, and Washington.

As a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO), Dr. Sawamura has held leadership roles, including Oral Examination Chair for Neuro-ophthalmic Disease Diplomates and President of the Faculty Council at SCCO. He actively participates in professional governance as a National Board of Examiners in Optometry committee member and previously chaired the ASCO SIG on Optometric Informatics.
