Mark Regnerus

Mark Regnerus is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Texas at Austin, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts. His research focuses on sexual behavior, family structures, marriage dynamics, and religious influences in contemporary society.

• Ph.D. in Sociology from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

His work examines intersections between religion and sexuality, the impact of technology on intimate relationships, and intergenerational patterns in family formation. Publications include books such as The Future of Christian Marriage (2020) and Cheap Sex (2017), alongside over 40 peer-reviewed articles.

Recent scholarly efforts include analyses of Catholic clergy attitudes, gender dysphoria interventions, and structural stigma research. His findings are widely disseminated in media outlets like The New Yorker and Wall Street Journal, and he contributes regularly to First Things and Public Discourse.

Teaching includes courses on social research methods, romantic relationships, and Catholicism's role in social thought, with class offerings spanning multiple semesters from Fall 2020 through Fall 2025.
