Mark Pickering

Assoc Prof Mark Pickering is an Associate Professor in Accounting at Swinburne University of Technology's School of Business, Law and Entrepreneurship. With over 20 years in consulting and accounting (including roles at Deloitte and Pickering Byrnes Consulting), he specializes in professional service firms, governance, mergers & acquisitions, and digital transformation in hospitality and financial services. He holds a BBus (Accounting) from Swinburne, an MBA from UCLA, and a DBA from RMIT, and is a Chartered Accountant (Australia) and CPA (California, inactive).

Research focuses on professional service firm management, technology adoption in hospitality curricula, and strategic management accounting. Current supervision capacity is full, having guided four PhD students on topics like agile innovation and digital transformation in public sector accounting.
