معرفی
Mark Knackstedt is a Professor and Director of the ARC Training Centre for M3D Innovation at the Australian National University (ANU). He is affiliated with the Department of Materials Physics within the Research School of Physics and Engineering. His research focuses on advanced imaging techniques for complex materials, including 3D imaging of geological materials, pore-scale characterization, and digital materials analysis. Key areas include predicting material properties through computational analysis and high-resolution tomography.
Education: BSc from Columbia University and PhD from Rice University. He supervises research students and leads multidisciplinary projects in energy and materials science.
Research highlights include studies on CO₂ storage, metallurgical coke degradation, coal cleat characterization, and ore beneficiation using X-ray micro-CT. He directs major initiatives such as the ARC Training Centre for Multiscale 3D Imaging, Modelling and Manufacturing, fostering collaboration between academia and industry.
Notable projects include hydraulic characterization of lithium brine cores and physico-chemical effects on CO₂ geostorage. His work bridges micro-to-nano scales in ore analysis and addresses challenges in carbon capture and resource efficiency.
