Mark Janzen is an Associate Professor at the University of West Georgia, affiliated with the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. He specializes in Public History, with a focus on the history of science and technology, architectural history, preservation, public memory, and memorialization.
- Education: B.A. in History/Anthropology from Texas A&M University (1991), M.A. in Museum Science from Texas Tech University (1994), and Ph.D. in History from Texas A&M University (2010).
Dr. Janzen’s research bridges historical scholarship with public engagement, particularly in the preservation and interpretation of material culture. His work explores how societies shape and are shaped by technological advancements, architectural legacies, and the politics of commemoration.
His teaching portfolio includes courses on oral history, archival research, museum administration, collections management, and educational practices in public history institutions. He maintains an active academic schedule, with course offerings planned through Fall 2025.
