Mark J. Miller is Associate Professor of English at Hunter College, CUNY, specializing in Early American Literature, Native American Literature, and literary theory. His research analyzes public-sphere religious organizing, racial discourses, and sexuality in transatlantic evangelical texts (1730-1860).
He authored Cast Down: Abjection in America, 1700-1850 (University of Pennsylvania Press) and is currently investigating religious melancholy and racial 'mixture' tropes in historical contexts.
