Mark J. Gibson is an Associate Professor (Career Track) and Chair of Undergraduate Studies in the School of Economic Sciences at Washington State University. He oversees the School’s Global Campus degree in Business Economics and advises graduate student instructors teaching both on campus and online. He has been teaching at WSU since 2007.

Research Focus: Dr. Gibson's research primarily centers on macroeconomics and international trade and finance. He specializes in modeling the effects of international trade and industrial policies, particularly when firms are heterogeneous. His work explores how trade policies impact market outcomes, firm behavior, and economic welfare across different sectors.
His recent publications span topics such as the role of trade intermediaries in Chinese agricultural exports, the selection and technology effects of using imported intermediate goods, and the impact of agricultural subsidies on market dynamics with heterogeneous firms.

Teaching Contributions: Dr. Gibson has taught a wide range of courses from introductory undergraduate to Ph.D. field courses, including Fundamentals of Macroeconomics, International Trade and Finance, Monetary Theory and Policy, and Mathematical Economics with Applications.
