Mark Harvey

Mark Harvey is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Biological Sciences, The University of Western Australia. His career spans systematic taxonomy, cladistics, and evolutionary biology of arachnids, particularly pseudoscorpions and spiders. He contributes to global biodiversity research and the UN Sustainable Development Goals through studies on terrestrial and aquatic arthropod phylogeny.

• Research Focus: Systematics of Pseudoscorpiones, Araneae, and Acariformes, with emphasis on New Species and New Genus descriptions.
• Recent Publications: 5+ peer-reviewed articles (2024-2025) in journals like Zootaxa and Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, covering spider web evolution, pseudoscorpion phylogeny, and aquatic habitat adaptation.
• Grants & Projects: Led conservation systematics initiatives for Australia’s trapdoor spiders and millipedes, funded by federal agencies (2017-2025).
• Collaborations: Works with international researchers on global arachnid phylogeny, including teams from Ecuador, China, and Japan.
