Mark H. Moore is a Research Professor of Public Management at the Harvard Kennedy School, where he focuses on social innovation and public value creation. He is affiliated with the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation and the Center for Public Leadership.
Education
- B.A., Yale University (Summa Cum Laude in Political Science and Economics)
- M.P.P. and Ph.D. in Public Policy, Harvard Kennedy School
Research Interests span three broad fields: (1) public management (e.g., Creating Public Value), (2) criminal justice policy (e.g., Dangerous Offenders), and (3) social innovation, particularly through his work on the "Sparking Social Change" course. His current research explores how social systems can adapt to changing political, economic, and social conditions to deliver public value.

Career Highlights include founding the Kennedy School’s Criminal Justice Program, leading the Faculty Committee on Executive Programs, and co-founding the Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations. He also held half-time appointments at the Harvard Business School (2007) and Harvard Graduate School of Education (2008) to study social entrepreneurship and education equity.
