Professor Mark Green is a Professor of Materials Chemistry at the University of Kent, affiliated with the School of Chemistry and Forensic Science. He holds the role of Chief Examiner and leads research in materials chemistry, particularly focusing on magnetic materials, superconductors, and crystal structures. His work emphasizes understanding complex phenomena like antiferromagnetism, spin dynamics, and interstitial doping in materials such as Nb12O29, FeTe, and perovskite oxyhydrides.
Research interests include the structural and magnetic properties of materials under varying conditions, as well as the synthesis and characterization of novel materials for energy and electronic applications. Green’s publications span over 130 articles, with recent work highlighted in Nature Communications, Physical Review Letters, and ACS Publications.
Key contributions include studies on titanium-doped Nb12O29 antiferromagnets, spin fluctuations in FeTe compounds, and the development of pressure-stabilized perovskite oxyhydrides. His research often involves collaborations on structural analysis, neutron scattering, and advanced spectroscopic techniques.
Affiliated with the Materials for Energy and Electronics (MEE) research group, Green’s work bridges fundamental materials science with applications in energy and technology. His lab investigates materials for next-generation electronics and sustainable energy solutions.
