Mark Evans

Dr. Mark Evans is a Senior Lecturer in Biomedical and Medical Science at the School of Allied Health Sciences, De Montfort University. He holds a PhD in Biochemistry/Organic Chemistry from Louisiana State University and a BSc (Hons) in Applied Biochemistry from Brunel University.

• Research focuses on oxidative stress, DNA damage/repair, and natural anti-cancer products
• Awarded Harold Malkin Prize (2004) and Polish Ministry Diploma (2006)
• Active in teaching administration and program leadership for MSc Advanced Biomedical Science

His research spans free radical biology, cancer mechanisms, and biomonitoring of nucleic acid oxidation. Recent work explores DNA adductomics and urinary biomarker validation, with techniques ranging from LC-MS/MS to comet assays. Collaborations include the Leicester Institute for Pharmaceutical Innovation and Infectious Diseases Research Group.
