Dr. Mark Engberg is an Instructor in Higher Education Administration and Policy at Northwestern University's School of Education and Social Policy. He concurrently serves as Chief of Staff to the President of La Salle University, overseeing strategic priorities and daily operations while managing roles as Secretary of the University and Interim Vice President of Enrollment Management. His academic career includes tenures as Professor and Department Chair at Loyola University Chicago (2007-2017) and Associate Dean at the Morgridge College of Education, University of Denver (2017-2021).

Research focuses on systemic inequality in higher education, postsecondary enrollment dynamics, and diversity's educational impact. Co-developed the Global Perspective Inventory (GPI), used by 150+ institutions to measure global learning factors. Publications appear in top journals including Journal of Higher Education and Review of Educational Research.
Awards include AERA's Outstanding Review of Research Award (2005) and Loyola's Distinguished Faculty Award (2014). His work informs amicus briefs in Supreme Court affirmative action cases involving major universities.
