Mark Edgoose is a Senior Lecturer and Coordinator of Undergraduate Studies in Gold and Silversmithing at RMIT University's School of Art. He has over three decades of academic leadership in Australian Jewellery and Object Making, previously holding roles at Monash University and Sydney College of the Arts. His research explores containment, spatial habitation, and functional ambiguity in objects, with a focus on material innovation and installation art.
Education highlights include a Masters by Research (RMIT, 1997) investigating aerospace materials in hollowware production. His work has been exhibited globally, including a notable commission for the Federation of Australia commemoration at Government House NSW. Awards include the 1996 Deacons Graham & James Award and 1995 National Craft Award.
Research interests center on object design, architectural space, and material experimentation. Supervision projects focus on hybrid metal formations, jewelry's social roles, and digital narrative objects. Edgoose has led academic programs like Sydney College of the Arts' Foundation Year, emphasizing inclusive learning environments.
Notable works include 'Rail as Vessel' (2015), 'Ring and Box Series' (2013), and installations addressing material disobedience and urban contexts. His practice bridges craft, art, and architecture, reflecting a commitment to expanding object-making's conceptual boundaries.
