Mark E. Arnold is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. He serves as the Director of the Interdisciplinary Program in Statistics & Analytics (STAN) within the Graduate School. His academic background includes a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Northern Illinois University, De Kalb.
Dr. Arnold’s research focuses on numerical linear algebra, computational methods, quantum dynamics, and statistical modeling. His work spans applications in wavepacket propagation, eigenvalue assignment algorithms, and Bayesian spatial statistics. He has contributed to advancements in distributed approximating functionals and numerical analysis techniques.
He teaches courses such as Numerical Linear Algebra (MATH 43503/53903) and Linear Algebra (MATH 30803). Over 30 years of academic contributions are reflected in his extensive publication record, with notable work in journals like SIAM, Journal of Chemical Physics, and Chemical Physics Letters.
