Mark D Abkowitz

Mark D. Abkowitz is a Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering and Engineering Management at Vanderbilt University's School of Engineering, and Director of the Vanderbilt Center for Environmental Management Studies (VCEMS). He holds a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from MIT.

His research focuses on risk management, infrastructure resilience, hazardous materials transportation, extreme weather impacts, and freight systems. He has authored over 100 publications and advised government agencies like the Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board. His work has been featured on NPR, Fox News, and CNBC.
