Mark Chopping

Dr. Mark Chopping is Professor and Director of the PhD Program in Environmental Science and Management at Montclair State University. He specializes in multi-angle remote sensing for mapping vegetation structure and biomass, with ongoing NASA-funded projects spanning Arctic tundra and southwestern US forests.

His research deploys advanced remote sensing technologies including NASA's MISR instrument to quantify carbon stocks and ecosystem changes. Recent work focuses on disturbance impacts in western forests and shrub expansion in Arctic regions.
