معرفی
Dr. Mark Busch serves as a Senior Scientist at Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) and Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY) in Hamburg, Germany. His dual affiliation places him within the Institute of Materials and X-ray Physics (M-2) at TUHH and the CXNS facility at DESY, where he conducts advanced research on nanoscale material interactions using synchrotron radiation techniques.
His research centers on water-driven phenomena in nanoporous systems, investigating capillary dynamics, surface stress effects, and molecular organization under confinement. Utilizing ultrafast X-ray imaging at facilities like the European XFEL, he examines real-time deformation processes during liquid imbibition and the self-assembly behavior of ionic superstructures within nanochannels.
Recent publications demonstrate his focus on the mechanical interplay between Laplace pressure and surface stresses in nanoporous media, revealing unconventional macroscopic responses. His work combines experimental X-ray methodologies with computational modeling to decode nanoscale flow mechanisms and molecular organization principles.
Dr. Busch plays a pivotal role in the newly funded Cluster of Excellence "BlueMat: Water-driven materials" (2025-2033), a major German research initiative selected from 143 proposals. He also contributes to the Centre for Molecular Water Science (CMWS), a pan-European consortium with 47 founding institutions across 12 countries dedicated to molecular-level water research.
