Mark Brehob is Kurt Metzger Collegiate Lecturer in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Michigan College of Engineering. He serves as Program Advisor for Computer Engineering and directs the EECS Student Project Lab and Michigan Embedded Systems Hub.
Teaching focuses on hands-on hardware design including EECS 373 (Microprocessor Systems) and EECS 470 (Computer Architecture), where students implement synthesizable processors. His instructional approach emphasizes project-based learning, with student teams creating smart mirrors, robotic systems, and medical devices. Developed novel curricula for PCB design and low-power embedded systems in EECS 473.
Research interests include cache optimization, hardware security, and engineering pedagogy. Authored educational resources on Verilog-based digital logic labs during departmental platform transitions. Provides extensive student advising and recommendation letters while maintaining online educational resources for technical interviewing and resume development.
