Mark Amos is an Associate Professor and Director at the School of Literature, Writing, and Digital Humanities at Southern Illinois University (SIU). He previously served as Founding Dean of University College and Associate Provost for Student Success, leading initiatives to enhance student retention and integrate academic-co-curricular experiences. His research focuses on late medieval cultures and literatures, including medieval reading practices, book production, class relations, and the application of modern theory to medieval texts.

His leadership roles at SIU involved managing a $4.5 million budget, redesigning academic programs, and coordinating units like the University Honors Program, Undergraduate Research, and Saluki Summer Bridge to Success. His monograph project, William Caxton's Corpus and the Forging of London's Urban Self, examines printing technology's role in identity construction during the 15th century.
