Mark A. Bayer is an Associate Professor at the Lumpkin College of Business (School of Business Management), Eastern Illinois University. His research focuses on organizational behavior, group creativity, and entrepreneurship ecosystems. He teaches courses in organizational behavior, decision-making, and leadership. Bayer has contributed to over 10 peer-reviewed articles since 2012, exploring topics like team cognition, entrepreneurial ecosystems, and strategic change.
Research interests include team cognition (shared mental models, transactive memory systems), group creativity processes, agent-based modeling, and entrepreneurial ecosystem dynamics. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical implications for organizational effectiveness and regional economic development.
Bayer's recent work (2024) explores analog entrepreneurship and the revitalization of legacy technologies, reflecting growing societal interest in balancing digital and analog systems. Earlier studies (2019-2016) addressed resource dependence in entrepreneurial ecosystems and strategic change in organizations. His earlier research (2012-2014) pioneered studies on cross-understanding and group information processing mechanisms.
He has been a Harrington Fellow and maintains active collaborations in entrepreneurship and organizational behavior. Teaching responsibilities include MBA-level courses on organizational behavior and leadership.
