Marjorie Och is an Adjunct Professor of Art History at the University of Mary Washington. She holds a Ph.D. (1993) from Bryn Mawr College, an M.A. (1989) in art history from the University of Delaware, and a B.A. (1981) in medieval and Renaissance studies from Towson University. Her scholarly work focuses on Italian Renaissance and Baroque art, with particular emphasis on artist biographies and cultural patronage.

Dr. Och’s research and teaching interests span art patronage, monographic studies of early modern artists, feminist methodologies in art history, and museum practices. She has directed study abroad programs in England, Italy, and Croatia, enriching her students’ engagement with historical and cultural contexts.
Her work has been supported by prestigious institutions such as the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Kress Foundation, and the Folger Institute of Renaissance and Eighteenth-Century Studies. Dr. Och is actively involved in academic leadership, having served as President of the national society Art Historians Interested in Pedagogy and Technology.
