Mariëlle de Vaal

Mariëlle de Vaal is a PhD candidate at Wageningen University & Research, affiliated with the Department of Food Quality and Design. Her research focuses on understanding consumer snacking behaviors, particularly the 'Snackification' trend, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Vincenzo Fogliano and others. She holds a Master's degree (cum laude) in Consumer Sciences from Wageningen University, awarded in July 2020. Her work integrates consumer studies, feeding habits, and social sciences to address contemporary food consumption patterns.

Her research interests include analyzing parental influences on children's snacking behaviors and methodological standards in qualitative research. She is actively involved in the 'Consumer snacking behaviour' project, which explores snack design and societal trends in snacking.

Mariëlle has contributed to peer-reviewed publications examining both applied and methodological aspects of food science. She maintains no ancillary activities outside her academic commitments.
