Mariya Toneva

Mariya Toneva is a C.V. Starr Postdoctoral Fellow at Princeton Neuroscience Institute researching computational models of language processing in the brain. Her work bridges machine learning, natural language processing, and neuroscience to understand how humans comprehend language.

She develops methods to align artificial language models with brain activity, using fMRI and MEG to study neural representations. Honored with NSF and C.V. Starr fellowships, her research has been recognized by the Society for Neurobiology of Language.

Starting 2022, she joins Max Planck Institute as tenure-track faculty.
