Professor Mariusz Próchniak serves as Dean of the Collegium of World Economy at SGH Warsaw School of Economics and Head of the Department of Economics II. He holds all tertiary degrees from SGH Warsaw School of Economics. His research emphasizes economic growth modeling, real convergence analysis, and institutional factors shaping development trajectories in Central and Eastern Europe. He has led numerous projects funded by the National Science Centre (NCN) and National Bank of Poland.
Research interests focus on comparative capitalism models in post-communist economies, EU integration impacts, and the interplay between institutional frameworks and macroeconomic outcomes. Notable work includes analysis of Poland's income convergence to EU averages, pandemic-era economic dynamics, and policy effectiveness under crisis conditions. He has authored/co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles in journals like JCR-indexed publications.
Active in academic governance, he oversees doctoral programs at SGH with 452-hour curricula integrating scientific writing, methodology courses, and specialized seminars. His work addresses critical issues such as post-pandemic recovery, war impacts on regional development, and sustainability transitions in CEE economies. Collaborates extensively with international institutions on EU enlargement implications and comparative institutional analyses.
