Marius Vicent Fuentes Ferrer

Marius Vicent Fuentes Ferrer is an Associate Professor at the University of Valencia, affiliated with the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences and the Department of Pharmacy and P. He is a member of the ParaSalut (Parasites and Health) research group, where his work focuses on parasitology, particularly the ecological dynamics of parasitic helminths in rodent populations.

His research interests lie in the field of parasitology, with a strong emphasis on the ecology of helminth parasites in wild rodent populations, especially in island ecosystems such as Ibiza and Formentera in the Balearic archipelago. His work contributes to understanding host-parasite interactions, transmission patterns, and the environmental and public health implications of zoonotic parasites.

Dr. Fuentes earned his PhD from the University of Valencia with a thesis titled "Ecologia de los helmintos parasitos de roedores en las islas pitiusas de Ibiza y Formentera (archipielago balear, España)" in 1992, supervised by Dr. Santiago Mas Coma. His doctoral research laid the foundation for long-term studies on parasite biodiversity and distribution in Mediterranean island systems.

He is actively involved in parasitological research through the ParaSalut group, which investigates the relationship between parasitic infections and human or animal health, aiming to support surveillance and control strategies for parasitic diseases.
