Marius Georgescu

Dr. Marius Georgescu is an Associate Professor (Teaching) in the Department of Earth, Energy, and Environment at the University of Calgary. His research specializes in Cretaceous planktic foraminifera taxonomy, evolution, and biostratigraphy, with extensive work on Deep Sea Drilling Project collections.

Research reconstructs microfossil records from Pacific and Atlantic Ocean sites, contributing to paleoenvironmental understanding. Authored multiple textbooks on foraminifera and geological history, including 'Microfossils through Time: An Introduction' (2018).
