Marius Dorobantu is Assistant Professor of Theology & Artificial Intelligence at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, developing interdisciplinary dialogue between theology, cognitive science, and AI. His research examines how theological anthropology can inform AI ethics while using AI insights to refine concepts like spiritual intelligence.

Publications include 'Artificial Intelligence and the Image of God' (Cambridge, 2024) analyzing human distinctiveness in the AI era. Recent work explores whether robots could develop religious behaviors through 'Religious Robots' special section in Zygon Journal.
Awards include the Australian Theology Research Prize and PhD Thesis Prize from University of Strasbourg. Current projects include Templeton-funded research on spiritual intelligence ($1M) and spiritual exercises ($500k).
As Executive Board member of the International Society for Science and Religion, he organizes academic dialogues on AI ethics. Teaching includes courses on ethics, philosophy of science, and theories of religion.
