Marius-Catalin Barbu

Marius-Catalin Barbu serves as Senior Lecturer and Head of Academic Area for Forest Products Technology within the Department of Design and Green Engineering at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. Based at Campus Kuchl (Room 1.07), he actively teaches wood technology courses for Timber Engineering programs.

His research focuses on sustainable wood-based materials and processes, with core interests spanning Forest Products Technology, Wood Science and Engineering, Engineered Wood Products, Wood Processing techniques, Green Engineering principles, and Sustainable Materials development. This expertise directly informs his curriculum design for both bachelor's and master's programs.

For Winter Semester 2025, Prof. Barbu teaches Introduction to Engineered Wood Products and Wood Processing & Woodworking 2 for third-semester bachelor students (HTB-B), alongside Basic Principles of Forest Products Technology and Wood-technological Processes & Procedures for first-semester master students (HTB-M). His leadership as Academic Area Head underscores his specialization in advancing timber engineering education.
