Dr. Maritza Espina is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Faculty & Research at the Jake Jabs College of Business & Entrepreneurship, University of Montana. She holds a Ph.D. in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (2003), an M.Engr. in Operations Research & Statistics (1999), and a B.B.A. in Statistics from the University of Puerto Rico (1997).
Her research focuses on environmental and social entrepreneurship, impact entrepreneurship, venture-investor dynamics, and non-profit governance. She has contributed to significant works such as Environmental and Social Entrepreneurship (2022) and E Pluribus Unum: Impact Entrepreneurship as a Solution to Grand Challenges (2019). Her studies often explore sustainability frameworks, regional competitiveness, and governance structures.
Dr. Espina’s articles analyze themes like social innovation, entrepreneurial drivers, and the longevity of discoveries. She has also published in journals like International Journal of Emerging Markets and Corporate Governance.
In her administrative role as Associate Dean, she oversees faculty development and research initiatives at the college. She teaches courses such as Innovation and Tech Strategy.
