Dr. Mariska de Jongh is a Researcher at Tilburg University’s Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (TSB), affiliated with the Tranzo research institute. Her work focuses on trauma care systems, geriatric trauma outcomes, and psychological health post-injury. She collaborates with the Academic Collaborative Center for Digital Health & Mental Wellbeing and contributes to national and international trauma research initiatives.
Her research addresses critical issues such as identifying high-risk elderly trauma patients, evaluating trauma center efficacy, and projecting future trauma system adaptations in high-income countries. She employs mixed-methods approaches, including qualitative interviews and large-scale registry analyses, to inform clinical practices and policy.
Key publications include studies on trauma patient perspectives, mortality prediction models using the Dutch National Trauma Registry, and comparisons of trauma care outcomes across Level I and II centers. Her work highlights disparities in psychological health outcomes among trauma patients admitted to different care levels.
Dr. de Jongh’s contributions emphasize the need for adaptive trauma systems, data-driven decision-making, and tailored care for vulnerable populations like the elderly. She advocates for harmonized trauma education and disaster preparedness in evolving healthcare landscapes.
