Marion Matters-Kammerer is a Full Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), the Netherlands. She leads research in (Sub-)millimetre wave and THz circuits and systems and coordinates the THz research program at the Center for Wireless Technology Eindhoven. She is affiliated with several research groups including the RF Sensing & Communication Lab, THz Electronics and Integration Lab, and centers focused on Care & Cure and Terahertz Science and Technology.
Education:
- MSc in Physics, École Normale Supérieure (Paris, France) and TU Berlin (Germany), 1999
- PhD in Physics, RWTH Aachen (Germany), 2006
Her research focuses on high-frequency electronic systems, particularly in the terahertz and millimetre-wave domains. She works on integrated circuit design, RF transceivers, CMOS-based THz spectroscopy, and the integration of photonic and electronic components at the wafer level. Her work bridges fundamental physics with practical applications in communication, sensing, and medical technology. She teaches courses such as Terahertz Systems, RF Transceivers 2: Design, and Electronics: Selected Topics.
The available publication highlights her expertise in high-speed optical modulator drivers for 3D wafer-scale packaging, demonstrating innovation in electronic-photonic integration with reduced parasitics and improved data rates. The work reflects broader trends in her research: miniaturization, efficiency, and high-speed performance in integrated systems.
Scientific Leadership and Projects:
- Project Leader, FP7 3DmicroTune (millimetre wave integrated cavity resonators)
- Workpackage Leader, H2020 ULTRA (CMOS integrated THz spectroscopy)
- Participant, WIPE, BROWSE, Photronics, Premiss, RF2THz
She has co-authored 72 papers and holds 13 US patents. She advises on technological innovation through roles as co-founder and shareholder of TeraNova, director of Kammerer Technologies B.V., and member of the Science Advisory Committee at ASTRON. While no formal students are listed, her leadership in research projects suggests significant mentorship and collaboration.
