Marion Gymnich

Prof. Marion Gymnich is a prominent scholar in English Literature and Culture at the University of Bonn, serving as Dean of Studies in the Faculty of Arts since 2023. Her academic career includes roles as Visiting Professor at the University of Graz and Substitute Professor at the University of Giessen. She holds a Habilitation in English Studies from the University of Giessen and has supervised 11 doctoral theses as primary advisor and 22 as secondary advisor.

Her research focuses on representations of asymmetrical dependencies in British literature from the Restoration to the 19th century, particularly exploring gender, social mobility, and cultural narratives in texts like Jane Eyre and Cranford. She has authored/co-authored 6 books, edited 18 volumes, and contributed over 100 articles, reviews, and encyclopedia entries.
