معرفی
Mario De Bono is a Professor at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria since 2019. He previously held tenured and tenure-track positions at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK from 1999 to 2019. His work focuses on neuronal mechanisms of behavior, cellular and molecular neuroscience, and the evolution of behavior using C. elegans genetics.
- Education: B.Sc. in Molecular Biology (University of Glasgow, 1990), Ph.D. in Biology (University of Cambridge, 1995)
Research Interests:
De Bono investigates neuronal networks, neuropeptides, and neuronal plasticity to understand how cellular and molecular processes drive behavior, particularly learning and memory. His studies integrate C. elegans genetics with neurophysiological and behavioral analyses.
Scientific Honors & Awards:
His accolades include the Wellcome Investigator Award, ERC Advanced Grant, and election to EMBO. He has also received grants from HFSP, ERC, and MRC, alongside early career fellowships from Wellcome Trust.
- Leadership Roles: Co-organizer of European Worm Meeting (2022), Chair of Gordon Conference (2021), Vice-Chair of Gordon Conference (2019), Cold Spring Harbor course instructor (2005-2007)
- Service: EMBO Fellowship Committee (2020-present), editorial boards for EMBO Reports, Neural Systems and Circuits, and Scientific Reports
