Marina Hirnstein is an Associate Professor at the Department of Psychosocial Science, University of Bergen, Norway. She is affiliated with research groups such as the Digital Learning Communities and the Bergen Laboratory for the Study of Decision, Intuition, Consciousness, and Emotion.
Research Interests: Marina focuses on Positive Youth Development (PYD), developmental assets, mental health in youth, gender differences, and cognitive psychology. Her work explores how social and psychological factors influence depression, self-regulation, and educational outcomes in adolescents.
Recent Publications: Marina's recent studies (2024) examine nonclinical treatments for menopause-related cognitive symptoms, network analysis of PYD frameworks, and interventions for attention development in children. Her earlier work (2019–2020) analyzed connections between community involvement and mental health, while her early career research (2013) focused on mathematical problem-solving and educational games.
Teaching & Leadership: Marina teaches courses including Motivation Psychology, Research Design, and Developmental Psychology. She supervises bachelor’s and master’s theses across clinical, work, and general psychology domains.
