Marina Dahlquist

Marina Dahlquist is a Professor of Cinema Studies at the Department for Media Studies at Stockholm University, Sweden. She specializes in historical reception studies, educational/industrial films, and globalization's impact on media. Her work bridges early 20th-century cinema institutions and transnational film distribution.

Research focuses include educational cinema's institutional development in North America/Europe (1910s–1920s) and the global reach of serial films like Perilous Pauline. She led the Riksbankens Jubileumsfond-funded project Modern Media and the Oil Industry (2020–2023).

Publications include co-edited volumes on educational cinema and monographs on early film serial phenomena. Her work intersects media history, cultural studies, and globalization theory.
