Marin A. Pilloud is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Nevada, Reno, and serves as Graduate Program Director. Her research bridges bioarchaeology and forensic anthropology, with a focus on dental anthropology to address questions about human behavior in archaeological contexts and biological profiling in forensic settings.
Her NSF-funded research explores Neolithic Anatolia and prehistoric California, examining community mobility and kinship through biodistance analysis. In forensic anthropology, she investigates sex and ancestry estimation methods, observer error impacts, and ethical professionalization. Recent projects include creating a dental databank for forensic identification and analyzing systemic racism's skeletal impacts.
She is board-certified by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology (No. 109) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. Her lab supports graduate research globally, and she teaches courses spanning human osteology, paleopathology, and forensic methods.
