Marika Rose is a Senior Lecturer in Philosophical Theology at the University of Winchester’s Department of Theology, Religion & Philosophy since 2019. Previously, she held a Postdoctoral Fellowship (2016–2019) and a Research Fellowship at Durham University’s CODEC Centre (2014–2016). She earned her PhD in Theology from Durham (2014), MA in Christian Theology (Durham, 2009), and BA in Theology & Religious Studies from Cambridge (2005).
Her research focuses on continental philosophy of religion, political theology, and critical engagements with Christian tradition. Key interests include the intersection of theology with race, gender, technology, and postcolonialism. Recent work examines the theological implications of secularism, labor ethics, and angelic figures in political contexts. She has authored two books: *A Theology of Failure* (2019) and *Theology for the End of the World* (2023), alongside influential journal articles in *Theology and Sexuality*, *Palgrave Communications*, and *Sophia*.
Marika has received prestigious awards including the 2024–25 Käte Hamburger Fellowship, 2022–23 Dorothy Foer Huck Award, and Combe Trust Fellowship. Her professional memberships include the American Academy of Religion and Society for the Study of Theology. She supervises doctoral research in continental philosophy, political theology, and mystical theology.
Current projects explore angelic figures as symbols of technological transformation and governance. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges abstract theological concepts with material ethical questions about justice, identity, and systemic violence.
