Marika Demers is an Associate Professor at the School of Rehabilitation, Faculty of Medicine, Université de Montréal. Her work focuses on neurorehabilitation strategies for stroke survivors, pediatric cerebral palsy interventions, and the application of wearable technology to enhance motor recovery. She leads research projects funded by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS), including a 2024-2028 initiative exploring targeted motor recovery interventions post-stroke.
Her academic contributions include studies on stroke rehabilitation in low-resource settings, such as the Tanzania Stroke Project, and innovative programs like ballet-inspired workouts for stroke survivors. She co-designs inclusive volunteering programs to support younger stroke survivors' return to work, emphasizing patient-centered care and stakeholder collaboration.
