Marija Kostić is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Hotel Management and Tourism in Vrnjačka Banja, University of Kragujevac, Serbia. Her work bridges applied biology and sustainable tourism, focusing on environmental responsibility in hospitality and tourism development.
Education:
- Bachelor’s in Biology, Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade (2008)

Her research interests include sustainable tourism, eco-management, green hotels, environmental economics in tourism, and the integration of traditional ecological knowledge into tourism practices. She actively explores how digital technologies and gastronomic events can enhance sustainable tourism offerings in Serbia.
Her recent publications (2016–2019) demonstrate a consistent focus on sustainability in tourism, particularly in mountain destinations, protected areas, and hotel operations. Key themes include eco-hotels, environmental costs, tourist perception of sustainability, and digital tools for conservation.

She is also engaged in academic advising and project supervision, contributing to curriculum development in tourism education.
She is affiliated with a vibrant research environment at her faculty, contributing to both academic and applied research in sustainable tourism development. Her work emphasizes practical innovation in eco-tourism and environmental management within the Balkan region.
