Marija Korac is a Professor (Scientific advisor) at the Department of Metallurgical Engineering, Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University of Belgrade. She was elected to her current position on March 30, 2016. Her office is located in the large building of TMF at office 359, and she can be reached at marijakorac@tmf.bg.ac.rs or by phone at 011/3370402.
Dr. Korac specializes in the field of Metallurgy with extensive expertise in metallurgical processes, metal recovery, and powder metallurgy. Her teaching portfolio includes courses on Kinetics of metallurgical processes, Advanced course in metallurgical processes, Powder metallurgy, Modern processes and materials in foundry, Metal testing-quality control, Cast iron - microstructure and properties, and Powder Metallurgy - Selected Chapters.
Her research interests span various aspects of metallurgy and materials science, with particular emphasis on sustainable metal recovery processes from electronic waste and industrial byproducts, development and characterization of metal alloys, corrosion properties, and powder metallurgy techniques. She has made significant contributions to understanding metal recovery from jarosite-PbAg sludge and waste-printed circuit boards, with numerous publications in high-impact journals.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong focus on sustainable metallurgical practices, with recurring themes in alloy development (particularly silver-based systems for jewelry and dental applications), waste treatment processes, and recycling technologies for critical metals. Her work bridges theoretical understanding with practical industrial applications, addressing environmental challenges while recovering valuable materials.
Dr. Korac actively participates in academic advising and has contributed to the education of numerous students in metallurgical engineering. Her research has practical applications in sustainable metal recovery, alloy development, and waste treatment processes, making significant contributions to both academic knowledge and industrial practice in metallurgy.
