Marieta Toma

Marieta Toma is Professor of Pathology at the University of Bonn, focusing on translational cancer research using patient-derived organoid models. Her laboratory develops protocols for culturing primary cell cultures and organoids from multiple cancer types to investigate therapy resistance mechanisms and molecular pathways of tumor progression.

Research centers on two themes: developing organoid models that preserve tumor heterogeneity, and identifying biomarkers predictive of therapeutic response. Current projects encompass cholangiocarcinoma, brain metastases, and renal cell carcinoma, with emphasis on tumor-microenvironment interactions.
