معرفی
Mariel ten Doeschate is a researcher at the University of Glasgow, affiliated with the Scottish Marine Animal Stranding Scheme (SMASS) within the Institute of Biodiversity, Animal Health & Comparative Medicine. Her work focuses on improving statistical methods for analyzing stranding data to assess anthropogenic impacts on marine populations. She holds an MSc in Applied Marine and Fisheries Ecology from the University of Aberdeen and a BSc in Wildlife Management from Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences.
Research Interests
Her research emphasizes the use of strandings surveillance for population monitoring, statistical modeling of ecological biases, and marine conservation. Key areas include:
- Quantifying human-induced threats to marine ecosystems
- Developing frameworks to account for stranding process biases
- Applications of stranding data in policy and management
Additional Contributions
She has authored/co-authored over 36 publications on marine mammal health, contaminant effects, and population trends. Her work has been presented at international conferences such as the European Wildlife Diseases Association and Society for Marine Mammal.
Labs/Teams
Her primary affiliation is with SMASS, a collaborative initiative supporting marine biodiversity conservation through stranding data analysis.
