Marie-Pierre Dehouck is a Professor of Physiology at the University of Artois. She holds a PhD from the University of Lille I (Physiology) and a Doctorate from the University of Artois. Her research focuses on developing in vitro models of the blood-brain barrier (BBB), including a patented human BBB model using umbilical cord stem cells. She has contributed to major projects such as the EU FP7 EUSTROKE initiative and the Marie Sklodowska-Curie ITN NANOSTEM program.
- Education: PhD and Doctorate in Physiology
- Key Projects: ANR CNS-antidote (chemical warfare antidotes), EUSTROKE (neurovascular unit modeling)
Her lab pioneered a BBB coculture model (bovine endothelial cells + rat glial cells) widely adopted by pharmaceutical companies since 1990. Recent work includes tri-cellular models incorporating pericytes for neurovascular unit studies.
Current activities involve drug delivery systems via nanomaterials for neural stem cells and broad-spectrum antidote development. Her work has produced over 60 peer-reviewed publications.
